I find I shall be unable to go to Jersey for another week that is before the 18th I had run out of clothes until I really had nothing fit to go in. Ordered a suit from M. Ward & Co. and they claim for satisfaction they will have to make it to order taking about two weeks.
Really this may be better for me. I have not been at all well for some time. Can’t stand the cold weather or any exertion and we certainly have had some wretched weather. It may possibly clear up now!
I am sorry this has upset you trip. But I would like very much to see you.
If I keep well enough I shall possibly be up there not more than two weeks.
I would like to stay a see Mr. Palmer. If I am feeling well I shall do so. If so will let you know the time at Washington !
I expect quite a little opposition and discussion about terms of mortgage. Mr. Barton evidently expects easier terms than the contract calls for. I am disposed to make them the other way, as far as I can. I refused to commit myself in any way prior to his payment which entitles him to a Title deed mortgage. And with the amount he has now involved he will have no recourse but to accept my terms.
I hope to leave here next week, though it may be Saturday.
Shall be pleased to hear from you in the meantime.
I note Dot had to get rid of her help again and has gone back to Mrs. Wilson.
Hoping you keep well
Love and best wishes
Dad
